CEO Appeal – Houses of Promise UK
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you for standing with Houses of Promise. Your kindness, generosity, and belief in our mission continue to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. Every prayer, every gift, and every word of encouragement help us move one step closer to a future where every child in our care has the opportunity to feel safe, loved, and full of hope.
As we reflect on the first half of the year, we are filled with gratitude for all that we have accomplished together. Thanks to your support, we have continued to strengthen the foundations of our work—improving safeguarding, building stronger local partnerships, and developing the systems that enable us to provide the highest standard of care for every child entrusted to us. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it is vital to creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where children can truly flourish.
Like many charities, we continue to navigate financial challenges. Yet because of your faithful support, we have been able to keep moving forward with confidence and purpose. We are now preparing for our next oversight visit to our children's centre in Kent, Sierra Leone. These visits are invaluable, allowing us to support our local team, strengthen our programmes, and ensure that every child continues to receive the care, protection, and opportunities they deserve. This visit will focus on helping our children thrive even further. We will be improving our facilities, upgrading communication systems, and making sure every child is fully prepared for the new school year.
This year also brings a milestone that is especially close to our hearts. For the first time, every child in our care will be attending school and I will be there to witness and document this notable occasion.
This is far more than an educational achievement—it is the beginning of new possibilities. Education opens doors to independence, dignity, and hope for the future, especially in Africa where opportunities are scarce and competition for them is fierce. This dream has only become possible because of the compassion and commitment of people like you. Together, we are giving these children not only an education, but the chance to rewrite their stories.
However, this exciting milestone also brings a new and urgent need. With all ten children now attending school, we must safely transport them to and from school every day, accompanied by the staff who care for them. The distances involved and the challenges of the rainy season make reliable transport essential. Reliable transport is no longer a luxury—it is vitally essential.
That is why we are launching our "Drive Their Dreams" appeal to raise £18,000 to purchase a dedicated minibus for Houses of Promise, SL.
This vehicle will do far more than transport children. It will carry hope to school each morning. It will ensure every child arrives safely, ready to learn, regardless of distance or weather. It will support medical appointments, educational outings, and the day-to-day work of our team, becoming a vital part of the children's lives for years to come.
Imagine the moment when all ten or twelve children climb aboard their very own bus, laughing together as they set off for school—knowing that a community of compassionate people made that journey possible. That moment is within reach, and you can help make it happen.
